Thanksgiving Day Dress

Thanksgiving is a day to spend with friends and family and reflect on the things in life you are thankful for. I have many many things that I am thankful for which includes each and everyone of you, my dear readers!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of fun and lots of yummy food!

    Pretty frumpy huh!?

This dress also came with this vintage broach, which was actually part of the reason that I bought this dress.
I removed the undesirables: shoulder pads and long sleeves.

I hemed the bottom by taking 7 inches off

Then I had to hem the lining by 5 inches.

I put on some festive Jamberry nail wraps for the occasion!

I added a black belt and black shoes and I was all set to go celebrate with family!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Refashioning!!!

  1. That looks fantastic! I was so happy to see this because I have a vintage See & Sew pattern for almost this exact dress. I like to use vintage patterns and try to make them look current. The two things I was going to do were take off the sleeves and shorten it. The sleeves and skirt of my pattern are fuller than your dress, it calls for SIX yards of fabric! I think I can shave a couple yards off that requirement by making those changes. Now I know it will look gorg!

    1. Thank you! It’s funny how simple changes like shortening and removing sleeves can really revamp a dress! Good luck with your vintage pattern! I’ve always been intimidated by using a pattern. Maybe one day I’ll try one, and when I do it will definitely be a vintage pattern!
